who we are
About EHCWA
The Eye Health Centre of Western Australia is a state-of-the-art eye health clinic located on the stunning campus of the University of Western Australia.
We are passionate about providing high-quality eye health services to the general public through our primary care clinic. We also offer extensive, specialty care clinics for conditions such as dry eyes and myopia management, among others.
EHCWA also provides hands-on, clinical placement opportunities for the Doctor of Optometry students at the University of Western Australia.
We’re also proud to undertake and contribute to collaborative research projects with the Lions Eye Institue, and other research collaborators.
Our vision is to improve the access and quality of eye health services in Western Australia through the integrated provision of education, clinical service, and research.
About
Our Story
The provision of healthcare in Western Australia is constantly challenged due to the vast landscape and aging population. Our belief is that quality eye health services should be accessible to all, no matter where they are located.
In 2021, we founded the state’s first and only post-graduate optometry course, training a new generation of optometrists who are capable of providing high-quality, culturally responsive and safe care.
Our team consists of talented individuals from various domains in clinical education, service delivery, health promotion, and research, all working towards our vision.
We have established regional hubs and invested in telehealth to reach even the most remote communities. Our partnerships with community optometrists, ophthalmologists, general practitioners, allied health practitioners, and governance bodies allow us to improve access to specialist eye services that are both timely and equitable.
At the Eye Health Centre of Western Australia our mission is to ensure “healthy eyes for everyone, everywhere.”
