What we do

Clinical Services

We offer comprehensive optometric examination to the general public, mostly at no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.

The examinations are facilitated with state-of-art diagnostic equipment to help assess, diagnose, and manage eye conditions.

We also accept referrals from community optometrists, general practitioners, and other health practitioners for specialty care in areas such as dry eyes, myopia management, and various eye conditions.

The provision of both primary and specialty care is designed to achieve the best visual outcomes for each and every patient.

Primary Care Clinic

Comprehensive consultations in the Primary Care Clinic are carried out by second or final-year Doctor of Optometry students under the close supervision of qualified and highly experienced clinicians.

Specialty Care Clinic

EHCWA’s Specialty Care Clinics offer five services for eye health conditions including dry eyes, ocular pathology, myopia management, children’s vision, and specialty contact lenses.

What we do

Education

Commenced in 2021, the Doctor of Optometry (OD) program at the University of Western Australia is an exciting new postgraduate course designed to meet the growing demand for eyecare in Western Australia.

This course prepares students with the professional attributes and skills required for clinical practice, so they can deliver safe and responsive person-centred care.

EHCWA is the onsite training ground for OD students that allows them to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world situations, while contributing to our metropolitan and rural communities.

What we do

Research

EHCWA works collaboratively with the Lions Eye Institute and other Australian and international research partners to conduct translational clinical research.

We aim to conduct transformative and impactful research that informs best-practice and contributes to the scientific understanding and clinical care of a broad range of contemporary eyecare issues.
